Cheers - Neil ------------------------------------------------ Digital Media MVP : 2004-2009 This is the problem where every time WMP12 is started it goes into "updateing Media Library" mode for a long long time even though no new songs were added or downloaded.
I have seen many other people posting the same issue but I have not found any answers yet except for (take out WMP12 and load WMP11 via a few tricks to make wmp11 work with Windows 7).
I don't want WMP monitoring my folders for anything, much less an unwanted library. At the moment I've told WMP to skip files smaller than "9999 KB" but you never know...
(if you don't see the list click on advanced options).
I assumed this was a know bug in WMP12 running under Windows 7, and that MS was working on it. "Neil Smith [MVP Digital Media]" wrote: Well I haven't really noticed it doing that on my 18000 track media library - if it does, it's pretty unobtrusive.
When you describe it as a problem - what actual problem is it introducing that causes you difficulties ?
where actually are the files stored - on the Disk or Network (you still never said) ? OR Does anyone know of a current fix (other than going to WMP11) ?
I have unchecked "retrieve additional information Recently, all of a sudden, wmp12 downloads everything from internet newspapers etc I access. By continuing to browse our site you agree to our use of data and cookies.
Ok i have been recently reinstalled win7 and when opening my media library is updating constantly ,whenever i reopen the wmp,and it duplicates my songs and when i select open file location it opens on same song in same location but why it does duplicate in wmp and why does update library every time?
Library and find a bunch of stuff about "updating library by monitoring folders. -- Bob you don't want WMP to build a library, don't use the folders that are listed as 'automatically added' in the add to library screen (WMP Tools, options, library tab, click monitor folders), and remove/don't add any other folders to that list.
All of my 50 or so CD’s are in the My Music folder. When I first open WMP12, the CPU goes to 80% with WMPLAYER.
EXE getting 50% of the CPU and the disk starts getting hammered with 2 WMPSHARE. Every time after the first time in WMP12, the excessive disk hits no longer occur; however, the CPU still goes to 50% being used by WMP12 and stays there.
